Unveiling the highest paid jobs 2022

Looking to make a job move this year? We reveal the highest-paying careers for 2022, from software engineers to data analysts, as well as how to acquire one.

According to a new exclusive research, software engineers and cyber security professionals are in line for some of the highest compensation packages if they decide to change employment this year.

Because the Great Resignation is expected to last through 2022, and the majority of firms plan to hire new employees, individuals searching for a new challenge are likely to find plenty of options.

According to Hays's research, in-demand fields like technology, marketing, construction, and engineering will continue to be in high demand in the new year and will attract above-average pay.

Tech jobs top the list for the highest average pay as the world shifts online and such professions become increasingly in demand.

A cyber security expert makes an average of £65,100 per year, compared to £49,158 for a mid-level software engineer, with more senior professions earning significantly more.

Those sums are far higher than the UK's 2021 median annual salary for full-time employees, which was £31,285 in the fiscal year ending in April, according to official data.

'As IT workers continue to play such a key role in the change of the working world, roles like as data analysts and software engineers are highly sought after by businesses,' said Simon Winfield, managing director of Hays UK & Ireland.

'As organizations work in a hybrid mode, cyber security professionals are in high demand, necessitating adjustments to cloud-based work environments as employees work in a variety of ways across various locations.'

Management accountants are also in high demand, with an average annual pay of nearly £46,600.

Maintenance engineers, who care after equipment and machinery in factories and industrial facilities, may make an annual income of £42,250 on average, followed by electrical engineers, who earn over £41,000 on average.

With data becoming the "new oil," people who can crunch large amounts of statistics and other data may earn a respectable living.

According to research, the average income for a data analyst is £39,636, while research scientists may expect to earn roughly £38,000 per year.

Credit controllers, who are responsible for collecting bills for corporations among other tasks, are at the bottom of the top ten list, with an average yearly income of £24,833.

It comes as Hays reports that over 80% of firms want to hire new employees in the next 12 months, the greatest level of recruitment intentions in eight years.

According to its study of over 22,700 professionals from throughout the UK working in a variety of industries, the top reason for looking for a new job is income and/or benefits package, which was admitted by 27% of those polled.

Moreover one-tenth stated they would look for a new job since their present one offered no future chances.

'If you're considering a career change in 2022, think about not only how your competence can satisfy current demand, but also what genuinely important to you in a job,' Winfield added.

'Whether it's work-life balance, coworkers, organizational purpose, training, or career growth, making wise long-term decisions will be vital if you want to prosper in a fast-changing employment market.'

How do you go about getting one of those well-paying IT jobs?

According to James Hallahan, head of Hays Technology in the UK, certain cyber security degrees are available in the UK, but they are not the most frequent path.

'In general, we discover that persons who want to work in cyber have been hacking since they were 14 or 15 years old,' he explains.

'These folks aren't likely to go to university to study, but they'll definitely be the finest penetration testers since they've been studying about the industry since they were children.'

'There are also some cyber apprenticeships available.' These are few and far between, but they are usually organized by GCHQ or specialized organizations looking recruit graduates from elite institutions and universities.

'Cyber security is tremendously broad and diversified, so all skill sets and sorts of individuals may find a place in it.'

'The biggest thing businesses look for in someone trying to get into the profession is someone who is passionate and prepared to learn.' Soft skills may vary at this level; you may be confident and have good communication skills, or you may be more reserved and pay close attention to detail. It doesn't matter since cyberspace provides an outlet for all sorts of individuals.'

When it comes to software development and engineering, you have the option of being self-taught or continuing your education.

'You may earn a variety of certificates for each language or technology, like being Microsoft Certified or AWS Certified,' explains Hallahan.

'The greatest recommendation for anyone interested in a career in software development/engineering is to improve your coding abilities as much as possible, because you'll need to show an employer that you have the necessary skills.'
