CINCINNATI, OHIO — Following the Raiders' season-ending 26-19 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday night, both quarterback Derek Carr and Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby approved Rich Bisaccia's permanent retention as head coach.
Following Jon Gruden's departure on Oct. 11, Bisaccia was moved from special teams coordinator to temporary head coach.
What did Carr say about Bisachia?
I believe we can all agree that he's the right man." "He's shown that people pay attention to him. He is well-received by our crew. And I'm grateful for him because I adore him. All of them are choices I won't be able to make because I won't be able to make them. I simply play quarterback... but with everything that occurred, all the pieces missing, all that altered, he kept it together."
Carr alluded to the Raiders' starting guards Richie Incognito and Denzelle Good suffering injuries in the preseason and first game, respectively. He discussed wide receiver Henry Ruggs III being released after he was involved in a high-speed vehicle accident that killed a lady. Carr also mentioned Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller missing five games down the stretch, Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs being hurt and being unavailable at times, and versatile running back Kenyan Drake suffering a knee injury in Week 13.
Carr, who had led the Raiders to the Bengals' 9-yard line before being intercepted at the 2-yard line on fourth-and-goal with 12 seconds to play Saturday night, said, "You go on and "I believe that's what our organisation is about, right? That staff kept everything together, kept us competitive, and kept us finding ways to win football games." So, we'll have to wait and see what happens. We have a clear idea of what we want to happen. We're Raiders, after all. We're going to play football, but obviously, we're hoping it'll be for someone special."
Carr also said that he would avoid direct discussions about his future with the organisation. The five-year, $125 million agreement he signed in 2017 has one year left.
His agency and the Raiders, he claimed, have a solid working relationship.
"Lord knows there's been a lot to talk about, hasn't there?" Carr remarked. "I never want to meet face to face when the time comes." I'll be playing quarterback, but my message will be heard.
Crosby, who had a sack among his six tackles on Saturday, added, "If it were up to me, I believe everyone in the world knows what my choice would be." "Rich is one of my favourite people. Obviously, I'm prejudiced, but he's a wonderful coach... he came in and led us to ten victories. On a short week's notice, we hit the road and gave Cincinnati all they could handle.
"One of the most amazing persons I've ever met." One of the most trustworthy people I know. And any day of the week, I'll go to bat for him. I'm completely smitten with him. He is well aware of this. I'm grateful for what he's contributed. I'm hoping we can keep it up."
Raiders owner Mark Davis has been mute on the team's hunt for a new head coach, as well as Carr and general manager Mike Mayock's futures.
When asked whether he considered being promoted to a full-time position, Bisaccia chuckled.
"I'm just thinking about those people in that locker room," he continued, "who put their heart and soul into that game and had a shot to win at the end."
"I'm not going to dinner and saying, 'We need to do something,'" she says. That is not me. "I'm going to make my voice known, but in a different manner."
Bisaccia is a "fantastic leader" for the Raiders, according to Crosby, who was just chosen second-team All-Pro.
