5 ways if you want to change your job and work from home
You can read stories every day about how people connect and get new jobs. There are many books and articles available on how to build contacts in order to identify business opportunities that may go unnoticed. But what about those who refuse to work?
I am not referring to a slacker who lacks ambition.
The unemployed, the crooked businessman, or not those I'm talking about. If you are already employed and want to become an entrepreneur at home, then networking may be a viable option for you.
Here are five ways to network to help you advance your work-at-home career.
1. Assemble your board of directors.
Companies like IBM and Microsoft aren't the only ones that require a board of directors.. As a home business owner, you want to surround yourself with a network of people you can meet, brainstorm, and seek advice.
They may see abilities and capabilities in you that you do not know. Once you define your company's goal, you can use the power of 4 degrees of class to help you achieve it. The idea of 4 degrees of separation states that each person in the world may be connected to another by a chain of acquaintances of no more than five links between them.
2. Keep in mind that giving is better than receiving.
One of the main problems I find with networks is that most people enter them to see what they can earn before giving. Always try to find a way to help the people you meet. There is a universal rule of reciprocity. In return you will always get more than you give. When you get to know someone, think about how they can improve their life or help them achieve their goals.
If you come across an article or come across something that might be useful to them, please send it to them. When you have a genuine interest in the success of others, you will be blessed with the outcome of your giving.
Some call it karma, while others believe that you receive what you sow. When I donate, my life experiences have been blessed in ways I never expected.
So look for opportunities to help. You may be able to do this in several ways:
- a. Connect them with people in your network who can help them.
- b. Submit notes or articles on topics that might interest them or that could help them grow their business.
- c. Offer to help them in some way.
3. Learn how to form a strategic partnership or joint venture. Creating a joint venture with someone is one of the quickest ways to get out of your job, start a business, or simply make some money.
A shared adventure is a way for you or two other people who might benefit from working together but don't have the right relationship to do so. Make the link work for you.
For example, you may be aware that your vet has an important practice with more than 700 clients. You also have a working relationship with a new pet breeder in town who is looking to expand their clientele. You combine the two, and you get paid every time the pet groomer gets a new client as a result of how the arrangement is organized. This is what we refer to as the "message box". Whether you work or not, the money arrives in your mailbox.
4. Create a documented network strategy.
I am always amazed at the amount of time and effort people are willing to put in to find a new job. However, when it comes to crafting an exit strategy from the rat race, they take an overbearing approach. It will be considerably more effective if you have a written approach. It is not required to have an exact plan. Here are some of the more important aspects to keep in mind:
- a. How often should I connect to networks?
- b. Is there someone I want to meet?
- c. What events should I focus my efforts on?
- d. What is my goal?
5. Aim for a specific outcome from each network connection.
Going to an event and "working in the room" never leads to anything that can be measured. Know ahead of time what you want to happen before you go to any event. Are you planning to meet someone specific? How will you ensure that your introduction is going smoothly? Make sure you have a strategy and, if necessary, ask someone for help to implement it.
If you'd like to meet someone, for example, ask the network event host if they know the individual and would be happy to introduce you. Due to the nature of the event, your odds of success are almost certain.
